All of the barrettes and hair elastics say that they are choking hazards and I am firmly against those hideous garter belt looking headbands made of lace that people put on their babies. Do hair accessories exist for toddlers?
Is there a safe way to pull my 14 month old daughter's hair out of her face?
I don't think anything is technically safe, since you have to have something really small to hold their hair at that age. I've worried about that myself, because at 2, my daughter is obviously old enough to take them out of her hair by herself. I would say either use the small hair elastics, I have some tiny clear ones, they are harder for kids to pull out (but it can be done), and like someone suggested, take whatever you use out before naps and bed. Just keep an eye on her with it when you have something in her hair. That's really all you can do at this point, other than not using anything at all.

What about those baby size soft 'scruncie' things? They look like terry cloth rubber bands.

I have always used elastics. Just take it out of her hair before bedtime or a nap.

I buy special rubber bands that are made for hair. They are small and good for only one use. None of my girls were able to remove them when they were young.

Just shave her head until she's old enough to wear hair accessories, I don't think they make em for the fact that babies may get to them and choke on it. Or just use the headbands.

Go to the baby section of a local department store and they have baby or toddler hair accessories their. Also in the adult section they have toddler or little girl hair accessories I think they are made by Goodie.

Give her mini pigtails on the top of her head...but anything that is going to be used on a childs hair that age(besides head bands) is going to be small, or other wise it wouldn't stay in....maybe a really cool hat?

The manufactures of the barrettes and elastics have to put they are choking hazards so they can't be sued, but I think this is what the majority of people use. I don't think anything else really exists. I guess your only other choice would be to cut her hair in a style that would keep out of her face.

Why don't you try little rubber bands. There are some tiny ones and my daughter cant take those off, she 18 months. They do the job, also have you considered maybe cutting her bangs? We also did that for my daughter and her hair rarely got in her face. Now her bangs have grown she we continue to use tiny rubberbands. Over the rubberbands then we put the clips in. You can also try just telling her no if she tries to take them off.

I used those clear little rubberbands they sell in the hair section -- they say OUCHLESS. My daughter is 4 and she still needs my help getting them out of her hair. I can't promise your baby won't choke, but they are hard to get out.

I suppose technically they could be choking hazards, but usually you put in those tiny rubber bands (that are almost like the ones 4 braces) on todders' fine hair, and you do it so tightly that you have to cut them out at night.

Well, the ones I have used are made by Goody, and are bright, colorful elastics (not rubberbands). They hold very well in infant/toddler hair, and my daughter has not put them in her mouth. I made sure to remove them from her hair before she laid down for a nap or bedtime, so that even if she was able to get them out (although they are difficult for me to remove) that she wouldn't have them to be a choking hazard.
