While tips and idea's might get you started, running a stockroom cant be done alone. the first thing to worry about is whats on the actual sales floor. managing inventory is the essential key to having better sales, and organization. also knowing how much space you have is a perk. there are lots of things to factor in, like how often do you recieve new merchandise? is it the same as the last shipment? its a constantly changing process. I can offer some basic advice, but it should be common sense anyway. Have plenty of storage space, at least 30% of your inventory should be able to fit in the stockroom. shelving is great for everything, adjustable shelving is the best. Have plenty of cardboard boxes and a label maker. Just make a Label, and stick it on a box of your merchandise. always put the labels in the same spot, that way you can re-use the box. there are lots of tips and tricks if you use your imagination.
