They look similar to a sping, about 1.5 inch long, you put your hair up in a pleat or bun then screw in the screw to hold it up instead of using hair pins which are not as strong, they are made of very strong metal and cannot be seen once in place, you just twist it in, i cannot get them where i first got them and i have lost mine.
