If it is a formal ball I really think that an up- do would be the nicest. A very sleek look with not to much stuff in it. Like shiny pins or anything. It does make people look ten when they are wearing to many hair accessories or to large of a hair accessorie.

I think for formal occasions for the hair is crystal combs that sparkle when the lights hit the crystals with an up do also you can have some of the hair hanging down.-- if you don't have access to these there is also a glittery hair spray that you can put in your hair and your hair just sparkles when the light hits it.... be careful that you don't over do it with the hair spray -- use regular spray then just spot spray this ... makes a nice effect as well

Definitely go to the salon and get an updo. As far as accessories are concerned, there are so many great things to choose from, I guess it depends on your dress, your taste, and what you want your hair to "say".
